The December 31st Night New Year Eve Service was a global event transmitted live on over 1100 TV and Radio Stations all over the world with recognition of ten outstanding young Africans under the auspices of the Future African Leaders Award (FALA) along with a citation of their remarkable feats.
Each of these young men (and women) all over Africa, was awarded a prize of $10,000.00 USD with the overall winner
Sister Babien Elena from Cameroon getting an additional $25,000.00 USD in an event which an inspiring keynote address was given by Madam Sirleaf Johnson, the only democratically elected Female President Africa has ever had.
To put this event in figures, for the 7th year running, a different batch of ten (10) distinguished young Africans have been selected from a pool of their peers and recognized with each receiving an award of $10,000.00 USD and the star winner from their midst getting a top-up of $25,000.00 USD for good measure this totals $35,000.00 USD for the winner.
At a time when there is hardly anything positive to write home about Africa, what a breath of fresh air this is.
Now, if this is not News, I wonder what News is.
