We’re gathered here tonight in honour of our Lord Jesus and the significance of that virgin birth which is known. Creatures, angels etc celebrate it. He wasn’t born for nothing, he was born for this purpose. Our dancing, singing, celebration etc are for this purpose
3 things for why this Christmas. It’s not just a holiday it’s more than that. THE PURPOSE OF JESUS’ COMING
1)HIS PURPOSE WAS CLEAR. HE CAME TO SEEK AND SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST.
LUKE 19:10. He Came on a mission. He lived his mission. Did you realize there’s nothing God
created on earth that exist without a purpose including you, that’s why every strand of your hair God has numbered them. The birds, plants are not without a purpose. You were not born for nothing. Discover your purpose. Don’t live an empty life. Jesus knew His purpose. Luke 4:16-18
1 Timothy 1:15
Christ Came into the world for a purpose. To save sinners. That was his purpose. He was born with the knowledge and understanding that His life was to be poured out for sinners.
1 John 3:5
This was his purpose, that he was manifested to take away our sins. Jesus was God’s word, Jesus is the living word. Jesus was the spoken word with which God created all things. He was manifested to take away our sins and which in him was no sin. And if you abide in him you don’t sin for if you sin, it means you don’t know him. He came and destroyed, paralyzed, rendered useless the works of the devil, no wonder Paul said sin shall not have dominion over you. He went out looking for them on his mission, not waiting for them to come his way. Just like by the well when Jesus met with the lady who was ashamed for she had had 5 husbands.
When you encounter Jesus, your shame is over. You become bold.
Another encounter with the man demons kept bound at the grave. Have you ever wondered and you go seeking and save those who are lost, or you wait for them to come, because when Jesus saw the man, he commanded the demons out from a distance and the man was restored into his right mind after that encounter because Jesus came to seek and saved those who are lost.
Another encounter with blind Bathemaius and when Jesus came by, he cried and cried out that Jesus should have mercy on him and Jesus stopped; even though there was a crowd and the people were asking him to stop calling Jesus. But Jesus stood still and called him. And the Lord asked him what he wanted and he said ‘I want to see’ and immediately he received his sight through faith.
The master is not done. He keeps doing this. He’s the same yesterday today and forever. He’s still winning souls. He’s supposed to be sitting but if we don’t act, he will still do it like he did from heaven in the case of Saul.
2) He came to give us life that we may live.
So anytime we celebrate Christmas remember he came to seek and save that which was lost.
Why did Lazarus die as he did? Every sick, poor, needy man is our opportunity; he didn’t let him die because it was an opportunity for the rich man to reach out to him and save him. It was a call. That’s why when the poor, needy, sick etc come to you, know it’s an opportunity for you to win that person.
The rich man died and went to hell but Lazarus died and went to heaven. And he was comforted in heaven and the rich man suffering in hell. The rich man in hell knew a drop of water from the poor mans soared hands could make a great difference. The only man who ever crossed hell was Jesus Christ. That’s why we must preach. Jesus came to give us life.
I have abundant life, I have and enjoy life to the full, and it’s overflowing from me.
Jesus was born to establish a new law and it’s the law of the spirit of life and it has completely brought us out from the dominion of darkness and translated us into the domain of life. The law of sin, death is no longer at work in me. I live in the law of life.
I have eternal life because I have Jesus .
If you can have the awareness and consciousness of Christ purpose, that he came so that you may have the life and nature of God in your spirit until it overflows.
1 John 4:9
He sent his son to the world that I may live through him that means from now on, I see, live, walk, think, etc through Christ.
Receiving the word, you live for it. Christ is the resurrection and life and when you believe you live. Hallelujah.
The word of God isn’t vocabulary, the word of God is the character of Jesus, it’s the personality of Jesus. The word is Jesus. The word became flesh, the word that created the heavens and the earth.
I live through him. I live through Jesus.
3) HE CAME TO BRING US INTO UNION WITH GOD. HE CAME TO MAKE US ONE WITH GOD.
1 John 4:13-15
Having the Holy Spirit is a witness, and it makes us know that we live in Him, that’s in Christ.
We don’t live, go to or bring down the presence of God, that’s OLD TESTAMENT, SO DON’T SAY YOU’LL GET THE PRESENCE OF GOD FROM HEAVEN, NO HE LIVES IN YOU NOW.
1 JOHN 4:14
What’s your own testimony like, are you telling the world about you.
I dwell in God and God dwells in me. I know because I have the spirit, he lives in me.
I am in God and God is in me.
The power of God is activated by recognition, YOU HEAR, ACCEPT, ENDORSE AND ACT THE WORD.
Christ in me, the hope of Glory..Colossians 1:27
DO SOMETHING WITH CHRISTMAS, WITH YOU. LET YOUR LIFE BE THAT OF GLORY, FOR CHRIST IS BORN IN YOU NOW, AND BECAUSE HE’S IN ME, AND I CARRY HIM EVERY WHERE AND MY LIFE IN CHRIST OVERFLOWS.
